For the 2008 Elections:
Host a candidate visit! Help state candidates understand your business
(... and, help your employees register to vote)
(Aug. 21, 2008) Electing more pro-jobs candidates for the Connecticut state legislature on Tuesday, Nov. 4 should be a top priority for anyone concerned about the state's economy and future.
- That's because state legislators have more of an impact on business in Connecticut than virtually any other level of government.
This fall, employers can play a vital role in the state elections, starting with showing candidates for the legislature what it takes to compete and succeed in a tough economy -- by opening your doors for a candidate visit.
You can also help your employees register to vote and become more informed about the candidates and issues.
Here's what you can do, and CBIA will help you:
- Host a candidate visit: -- Candidates for the state legislature will visit companies throughout the state during the week of Oct. 20-24 ("Business Meets Politics Week 2008"). This is a great opportunity for you to showcase your products, services and impact on the community. Contact CBIA’s Liz Krueger at 860-244-1169, or elizabeth.kreuger@cbia.com.
- Voter registration drive -- Help make sure your employees are registered to vote on Nov. 4. Host an onsite voter registration drive -- for new voters and for anyone who may have moved since the last election. Contact CBIA's Adam Ney at 860-244-1933 or adam.ney@cbia.com.
There's lots more employers can do to participate in the election season -- such as explaining to them how critically important a good business climate is to your business and encouraging them to explore the issues and where the candidates stand on them.
For more information on how to get involved, contact CBIA's Public Affairs Department at 860-244-1900.
